Join us for a shared learning event exploring the collaboration between Migrant Voice and Glasgow Museums on the ‘Putting Ourselves in the Picture’ photography exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
When: Monday 28 April 2025
1 pm - 4:30 pm
Where: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
In 2022, we set upon a journey together to bring out the heritage of migrants and showcase their contribution to life in Scotland, giving visibility to missing chapters in the representation of migrants in Scottish heritage. We wanted to ensure migrants are better represented in public life and institutions so future generations will see their place in the history of Scotland and understand they have roots in the country.
In this event, you will hear from Migrant Voice staff, museum curators, migration researchers, culture funders, and migrant community members involved in the curating process. You will have a chance to learn about the process of developing migrant-led exhibitions, see ‘Putting Ourselves in the Picture’, and network.
‘Putting Ourselves in the Picture’, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is open until October 2025. We offer free learning resources and guided tours for school, college, and community groups - please get in touch if you would like one
