There are many ways to get involved with Migrant Voice 
- You can become a member of our networks in London, Birmingham or Glasgow and take part in our activities, training, meetings and events, and work to have a voice in the debate on migration

Individual migrants (migrants, refugees and asylum seekers) as well as organisations, media professionals, academics, policy makers, and other institutions and members of the public are welcome to join the network. We mainly work in the three cities mentioned above, but we also welcome members from across the country to engage with us

- You can join our media training activities building skills in areas such as writing articles, video making, social media, photography, and how best to get your message across in an interview

- You can join us as a volunteer - we regularly have opportunities for volunteering including with journalism, communications, fundraising, and administration

- If you have a story to tell, get in touch with your idea or for our support to tell your story

Volunteer finance and office administrator for Migrant Voice, London

Migrant Voice is looking for a volunteer to support the finance and administration of the organisation.

We would like to offer a volunteering opportunity for a highly organised and committed individual with a good understanding of project finance and administration. 

This job is suitable for: 

  • a recent graduate or accounting student with a solid understanding of accounting but looking to gain more work experience, 
  • a retired experienced accountant/administrator who wants to use their experience to help a good cause, 
  • or someone with similar background in between jobs.

The volunteer will work closely with the staff. Working as part of the London office team, the volunteer will support the finance and administrative work of the organisation.

Tasks will include:

  • Processing receipts, invoices and payment records in line with financial requirements and policies
  • Entering financial data in Quickbooks and other systems
  • Process Giftaid claims
  • Analysis and reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Devising, setting up and maintaining systems, databases and processes
  • Maintaining and updating records including filing, data entry of project records
  • Supporting the administration of projects and taking minutes at meetings
  • Any other tasks as required

Essential criteria:

  • Excellent finance/accounting skills
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent skills in devising and managing project systems for record keeping
  • Good time management skills
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Ability to be self-directing, work on own initiative and be flexible
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills


  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector

Location: this post is based in London, at our office near Kings Cross
Volunteering hours: 1-2 days per week (10am - 6pm)
Duration: minimum commitment of 6 months with the possibility of an extension or renewal (this position could be suitable for a work placement or internship)
