Migrant Voice - Migrant Voice report featured in Sheffield Wire

Data from Migrant Voice's report on extortionate visa fees, "Destroying hopes, dreams and lives: How the UK visa costs and process impact migrants' lives", has appeared in the Sheffield Wire in an article about the upcoming Migration Matters Festival, taking place in Sheffield from 17 to 25 June.

The article highlighted how, in our report, "95 out of 100 migrants surveyed said they had extremely negative feelings about their experience of the visa process: some describing it as ‘mental torture’."

Livia Barreria, a Brazilian journalist supporter of our campaign who was part of our report launch even, and who is the Festival's audience development manager, stressed the importance of events that promote migrant culture and communities. She said: "I think it is very important for us to have events promoting migrant communities, refugees and all the positive impact these people are making in the UK and in Sheffield, the first city of sanctuary in the country.”
