Migrant Voice's campaign to end extortionate visa costs was featured on Birmingham Live on 9 May.

The article includes an interview with a Migrant Voice member who spoke at our report launch in the Houses of Parliament on 27 April. Takesh Hibbert said: "I've lost so much during these years - I've been doing catch up on my life. ... I felt like a prisoner with the freedom to go out and do the shopping or go for a walk."

Migrant Voice Director Nazek Ramadan told Birmingham Live: "We welcome migrants to this country because we need their skills, services and enterprise. Then we impose extortionate fees - amounting to more than seven times the actual cost of a visa - that have a destructive impact on their lives. Now migrants themselves have talked about the realities of this impact - and it’s devastating. This must change."
