Migrant Voice - Network meeting 10th November

Our Migrant Voices for Change London Network took place on November 10th 6-8.30pm at Migrant Voice, Collaboration House, 77-79 Charlotte Street, London W1T 4PW.

A key theme for this meeting was the new Immigration Bill 2015 and in particular the impact it will have on our rights. We were joined by Zoe Harper from Immigration Law Practitioner’s Association (ILPA) who outlined key concerns about the Bill and what actions we could take to make our voices heard about our concerns.

The meeting also featured an immigration information session with a focus on Syrian refugees. Shahab Hamid from Freeman Solicitors answered questions about immigration and provided advice on how to access legal support in the asylum process.

Other upcoming topics for the next network meetings in early 2016 will include updates and discussions on:

  • The £35,000 income threshold for settlement coming into force in 2016.
  • The referendum on UK’s membership of the EU – and the impact on European migrants
