Theresa May’s plans for Non-EU students to return home to apply for work and a visa from outside the UK has been scrapped. For now, at least, non-EU graduates will continue to have four months to obtain a job worth £24,000 a year and apply for a work visa. But critics say the UK’s policy on International students is still ‘a disaster’. Until 2012 non-EU international graduates had two years to find a job. Since then there has been a 5% drop in the number of non-EU students coming to study in the UK. Following these policies and the focus on bringing down the number of students, critics say that International students having been pained into a group to be feared – in a similar way to the scare-mongering around Romanians and Bulgarians.
