We are pleased to invite you to our event to celebrate International Migrants' Day: 'Celebrating Migrants' Voices'. The event is co-organised with the Westminster Migrant Network Group and Migrants' Rights Network. The event will take place on December 18th, 6-9pm at the University of Westminster, Regent Street Campus, 309 Regent Streeet, London, W1B 2HW. The event will challenge the negative rhetoric of migrants portrayed by media and politicians and instead focus on migrants’ voices and relay their experiences through powerful art, exhibitions, film, poetry, dance and music: Come and speak to migrants about their views on media coverage of immigration, and hear their stories in their own words Enjoy stalls with films, exhibitions and other contributions from Migrant Voice, Art Represent, Migrant Resource Centre, Brighter Futures (Praxis Community Projects), Migrants Contribute, Migrants’ Rights Network and Detention Action The event will also include: A film festival, including showings of 'The Faces of Our Cities - Stories of Migration: Past and Present' (2013) and 'Yurik' (2010) Spoken word artists A live dance performance A performance by Turkish music group 'Nefes Ensemble' (https://soundcloud.com/nefes-ensemble) International food If you would like to attend, please email Lea Sitkin at [email protected] Please feel free pass on this invitation to anyone you think might be interested.
